Do you really think that becoming a good computer scientist is easy ???

You are at your first year and you already started saying "too hard, let's
see something else" ... well, if this is the way you solve problems,
maybe you better quit your idea.

Study C, C and again C, follow your university courses, do your exams,
take a look at the C code written by other people, starting from simple
algorithmic problems and going on to real applications and, in a few years,
looking inside linux kernel, for example.

But most important, *never* say "it's too hard", or you will never go
anyway.
