With print music, like sheet music, guitar tablature, or tabs are a small
diagram which appears above the staff. They show finger placement for
particular chords. They are sometimes referred to as a chord box. I think of
them as kind of a key for the guitar player to follow, especially for beginners
who haven't completely learned how to read music. .
If you are a patron of the NLS, you should call your local librarian to inquire
about what the NLS Music Section has to help you with tabs. I know the NLS has
Bill Brown's Guitar by Ear instructional series, which I have and it is very
good. But I can also understand if you want an in-person instructor. And here's
a site which might offer some help:
Lastly, tablature is spelled T A B L A T U R E. <smile>

Hope I got the spelling correct.
Taking up the guitar again. The guy who is helping me talks about this
tableture thingy like it is some form of musical notation. Is this correct? Can
this tableture be converted in to Braille or some electronic format that can be
read by my screen reader (NVDA)?

and make a brand new ending." - Carl Brad
