My most abject apologies for those of you who are sick to deaf of hearing about
this recorder , simple fact is that its a beautiful machine and here’s
something else to really like about it, the normalise option found in the File
menu.
Unlike the Olympus LS14 the LS-P4 doesn’t have a smart level function which is
a bit of a shame but not the end of the world.
So the idea then is to record using the manual record level setting set to a
reasonable but not high level, you can gage this through monitoring of the
recorded signal in “Record Standby” mode using headphones.
So once you’re recording is made select the file and apply the normalise option
form the file menu.
Normalis will then create a normalised copy of your original work with the
levels set, this function can take a while to work its magic particularly on
lengthy recordings.
Normalis only works if you’re recording in PCM Wave mode at 44.1KHZ 16 bit.
