Also for those of you with either an H6 or an H5 don't forget to get the
apple camera kit. You can then use the 5 or 6 as an Audio interface for
the phone and record in stereo that way. I still have that to do yet.

I don’t know about that but if anyone has an older iPhone here then they can do
business with our carriers who will usually if - the phone is in good condition
- swap old for new.

There are great deals here on the other side of the Pacific. My
Internet company recently started a phone service and it will likely
offer $300 in gift cards for those who buy a new iPhone, knocking the
price of a new basic iPhone 10r to $450. Then there are the outrageous
Chicago taxes that push it up to nearly $500. I work a boring job in
criminal justice so I can afford these toys. I have done whatever it
takes to get and stayed employed. The money affords my digital
lifestyle, and I have no apologies.

Actually there are great deals going with our phone company's right now for
Apple iPhone 8 and Samsung Galaxy S9+ so that's how I came across my new
toys and I say again, just for the audio quality alone the upgrade was
incredibly worth the while in my opinion.
I've never seen an iPhone 4C so don't know much abount them, do you know
whether the IOS 12 update can be applied?

Hi!
Some of us are not made of money.
We can’t afford not even the second greatest iphone.
I have the Iphone Se and i am happy with that til it breaks.
THe Nokia 8 though is far better when its about sound we’re talking even
though none of my phones has stereo speakers which doesn’t bother me as i
don’t go telling all people what i am listening to saying hey guys! Here i
am!

Hi!
I’ve had an iPhone 8 for just over 2 weeks now and I’m very happy with
the phone and even happier with the release of the new IOS 12 which
has improved the phones performance but one thing at a time.
Firstly I would say to owners of older iPhones, if you care about the
sound of your iPhone or if you are yearning for far better quality
sound from your older iPhone then I certainly urge you - if you’re
able - to upgrade to an iPhone 8 or an iPhone 8+ if you want the
bigger screen, the speakers in the iPhone 8 just sound so much louder and
clearer.
For an example I usually had the master volume of the iPhone 6s I was
using set to 100% and the speech volume set at 20%, the speech volume
at 20% was “Loud enough” to be heard quite clearly with the iPhone 6s
some distance away but the speech wasn’t too intrusive.
Now with this volume arrange meant on the new iPhone 8 the volume
level of speech is damn loud, you need to cut the volume down to 5% or
even lower the master volume of the phone altogether if you’re in a
Doctor’s waiting room or similar.
Anyway a good job done by the engineers at Apple in my view, still
doesn’t sound as good as my new Samsung S9 but every iPhone model I’ve
upgraded to has brought with it a significant enhancement in the
speaker - or in the case of the iPhone 8 speakers - audio quality.
As you can see I’m not at all concerned about a lack of a headphones
socket and I’m not even bothered that I didn’t get a dongle to plug
into the dock connector, I bought an Arcam DAC from my local Hi-Fi
supplier which does for my headphone listening so that’s sorted.
My iPhone 8 came with IOS 11 installed and I was very much
underwhelmed as far as performance went as it seemed to me that the 8
offered little more in this regard than I was getting from the previous
iPhone 6s I used.
IOS 12 has changed all that and I wait with eagerness to hear what the
new owner of my iPhone 6s finds when he upgrades the phone to IOS 12.
One of the great new features of IOS 12 is the redesigned Voice Memos
App.
The interface is easy to get around and uncluttered plus you can
perform Lossless recordings in the M4A format.
I’m still to work out how to record in stereo which you’re supposed to
be able to accomplish now, does the iPhone 8 have stereo microphones
as part of it or do you have to use external microphones I wonder.
Incidentally for those who are wondering, the Samsung S9 does really
nice stereo recordings with its onboard microphones and I use an App
with the Samsung S9 called Easy Voice Recorder. Pro though I’m in no
doubt that a hundred audio recorder Apps or just as good are out there
waiting to be purchased <smile>.
