Ah yes Neal had that wind problem too. I myself still don't understand that. I'd love to look at 1 to see why that could be. Have you noted anything? Are the sides open in any way? I didn't really think much about that wind problem with the machine itself as if I had got 1 I'd like I do with the H6 use it with my awesome Audio-Technica AT-8022. I'd also planned to save up for a matched pare of Rode NT1-A mics. I still do cause they sound epic on the H6. Infact I think that the H6 podcast was the 1 in which Neal used the NT1-A the most. Ah you know Rode is in Australia right?

Its pretty much useless if you want to record from its built-in microphones.

Ah what didn't you like about the LS-100? Ya know, I had a chance at a referbed
one on Amazon. But I figured na man cause the thing's gone.
What when the batteries die? Where would 1 get 1? Also 1 never really knows how
like new it truely is. I liked the 100. To me it sounded like the H6 but with a
darker tone. Also I love that you can hook up to 6 mics on the H6. Oh and
record 6 mono files to pann down later in some DAW to 5.1 surround. Also I did
like that the 100 spoke and that it had the switches for the phantum. So you
could shut it down on the fly when you don't need it no more. Oh and you can
only turn it on the XLR that absolutely needs it. The H6 which confused me for
a bit turns it on in pairs. Or all XLRs at once. That ain't necessarally cool.
You may need it on track 1 but not 2. O r track 4 may need it but not 3.

Well I have to get one first <smile>.
After that? Well it will be time to part with the Olympus LS-100, I never
really liked that recorder to be honest though I don't regret buying it as it
is a simple solution to use for sampling Vinyl and that sort of thing, a
reliable way of sampling as I don't need the computer to do it which is far
more convenient and better quality audio anyway.

Yes they're very nice recorders and I've been using mine a lot lately too.
Since we're talking about recorders I was very happy to read that the Zoom F8N
has arrived in Australia, hopefully I'll have enough money for one in the
coming weeks, before my Birthday perhaps?

Ah yeah that's why I even got rechargeables in the first place. For my H6. Dude
even with 12 valts of phantum that thing eats batteries. Well mine did at
least. I don't know. I'm loving my H6 though. It's an awesome recorder. I've
used my Audio-Technica AT-8022 with phantum power at long long last. Let me
tell ya mind blown. It sounds epic!

Up to the individual I guess but I’ll give you one reason why I wouldn’t use
rechargeable batteries in a device that wasn’t designed to use them.
Firstly rechargeable batteries have a lower voltage than do Alkaline batteries
so their’s no guarantee that the appliance fitted with rechargeable batteries
instead of Alkaline batteries will perform at its peak.
Also the battery gage or status reading may be wrong which could cause some
extra problems.
Appliances that take rechargeable batteries are designed to take all these
considerations into account, the Zoom H6 for example.
Whilst the Zoom H6 won’t recharge rechargeable batteries it can be set to
accept them so that performance is at peak and the battery status is reliably
maintained.
I never use rechargeable batteries in radios just to make sure I’m getting peak
performance when I use them.

Hi. It's alright to use NIMH batteries in the Olympus LS-14 right? Because
according to Neal the Manual says Alqualine. Like Neal said though it doesn't
say NIMH won't work, but I will tell ya they do. It's just Olympus says to use
alkaline. How hard core should 1 listen to that? Obviously too it won't charge
NIMH but that's to be expected and it's obvious. Thanks.
