Hi!
I rate this sound device very highly for a good number of reasons.
The device is around $150 and has audio line and microphone in connections, a
SPDIF audio out, a very nice headphone out along with RCA line-out sockets for
connection to a Hi-Fi system plus outputs for surround-sound speakers if you
want to go that far but the fun just doesn’t stop there as I found out around
10 minutes ago.
The Soundblaster Omni also incorporates Built-in microphones so without a doubt
this device could be a truly superb accessory for a Notebook computer or even
an Intel Nuc being lugged about the place where a microphone along with other
handy recording sources could be a real help.
The Sound Blaster Omni also comes with a handy remote control that can be used
to skip through tracks etc when playing media, all tis in a handy USB connected
device that can fit into your jacket pocket.
On the right on the top of the device is a large round jog-dial that is the
volume control, press the dial in and the output is muted.
The Soundblaster Omni as far as I can tell only samples up to 48K when
recording but as we’re talking an analogue device for recording 48K is
perfectly acceptable.
If you want to go higher with sampling and you’re only concerned with stereo
audiophile sound then the Soundblaster HD might be worth looking at as it too
has a bargain price, not professional like say the Asus but damn good all the
same.
