As for me? Well I just bought myself a Google Home Max. This Google Assistant has been around for a good while and I had hesitated buying one until my JBL Playlist speaker in the kitchen stopped working. The JBL Playlist isn't a Smart Speaker rather it's a Speaker with Chromecast compatibility so you can say to your Google Home as I was doing, "Hey Google Listen To Music on JBL Playlist". This will all be simplified when the Google Home Max arrives later this week. I may as well mention some other projects I have been involved with over the last few weeks. I now have an Amazon Alexa Echo Plus which has a built-in Bridge to enable the easy connection of compatible equipment such as Philips Hue Lights and other smart devices. I got a free Philips Hue Light Bulb with my Echo Plus order so thought I would try it and see just how easy the bulb was to connect to my Echo system. Easy isn't the word, too easy might be a better way of describing the process, just insert the bulb into the socket, turn the light on and tell Alexa to search for devices. The search process takes around a minute and if devices are found then Alexa will tell you. I'd recommend doing one device at a time if you plan to connect multiple devices, that way you can label each device as per the room it is in etc so you don't get confused. When all devices are connected you can command Alexa to, "Turn All Lights On" or turn the light on according to the label you have designated to the bulg, "Turn Bak Room Light On". Next week I will begin the installation of the smart Motion sensors as I want a completely automated system here where lights turn on and off when people walk in and out of rooms, I'm sick and tired of people leaving lights on here.
