Yes, seems very strange.
I think the goldwave forum is still active -- maybe you should try posting 
there? You m ight get some better ideas.

Hi JM. Thanks very much for your thoughts. I'm afraid your suggestions
- which are great - have already been covered. I've tried re-starting the PC a 
couple of times, and the only background software running during the period of 
the issue's presentation is Jaws. Unfortunately, it does seem to happen pretty 
regularly, especially when I've set a start marker and am trying to pause again 
in order to set a finish marker (or even if I just try setting the marker 
without pausing).

Anyway, thanks again for those ideas... Any other suggestions from anybody will 
again be really gratefully received.
