I have reverted to a previous version of goldave some time bak, because the
dictation feature got broken somehow and hasn't been fixed, nd I use this
recording feature a lot.
I do use Whisper through another front-end now though (buzz) and it should be
basically the same with Goldwave. It is pretty good I'd say. Occasionally goes
weird /has semi-insane results but that happens with just about any AI, and it
only occurs with maybe one in twenty transcriptions. It takes some time to
process for me as it's all local (nothing in the cloud), but I don't know if
that's the case with the goldwave service or if it does processing online.
Someone on another list tried it and said it took a few minutes for the medium
model to process a minute or so of audio, so yeah I expect it works the same.
It will depend a lot on your processor and such. Also I believe Whisper is
coded as a 32-bit application, which may be for the best as it is
cross-platform, but as a result it may not be the fastest thing youv'e ever
seen. I'd say though that if you want quality transcriptions and you're not
going to do it yourself or pay someone to do it, this is the best you'll get,
particularly if you use some of the larger models. I usually stick to medium
myself as it's good enough for my purposes most of the time and doesn't take
hours to process.

Version 7 marks the beginning of new AI features in GoldWave. We are looking
into ways of editing and enhancing audio with different AI models. All
processing will be done on the computer to maintain maximum privacy.
This versions changes the requirements for GoldWave. Windows 10 or later is now
required. A CPU with AVX support is required. About 95% of Windows systems
should be compatible with these new requirements.
New Features:
* Added Transcribe Audio tool based on Whisper AI
* Added automatic transcriptions in Sound windows
* Updated Delete icon to differentiate it from Close
* Updated VST icons
* Included Polish translation.
* Several fixes and improvements
