On January 1, 2011, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) launched
the first phase of the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and
Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program in nine different areas of the
country.

Since program implementation, CMS has been conducting real-time claims analysis
for groups of Medicare beneficiaries potentially affected by the program. We
have now issued the 2011 first quarter DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program
health outcomes results, which show no significant changes in health outcomes
for these groups. To view the results, please visit
