2005 -------
One aspect seems to be, that the document uses a strange mixture of
Times New Roman (TrueType) and Times (Type1 PostScript). When I open the 
document, I see blank rectangles where I suppose the fractions for 1/3 
and 2/3 should be, but 1/2 works fine. See bottom of page 5.

My font menu says that the font is "Times". When I switch the font to
Times New Roman, then the fractions work.
