2005 -------
Just for the records: the UNIX desktops since KDE and GNOME always worked the
"extension => mime content type => icon" way. For the OOo 1.x / SO 7 file forma
we  already "invented" template mime types for this reason and this has been
communicated at least to our TC members very early in the release stage.

However, since the "Open Document" format is no longer OOo/SO only and the mime
magic stuff becomes more important with GNOME and KDE moving to
"shared-mime-info", I can not garantee that our templates will get a template
icon / description on all modern desktops without this change.
