The problem is that we cannot easily write line patterns to the desktop
background window on all supported platforms. So one solution might be to not
show the wireframe but immediately create the floating window, which currently
only appears when you release the mouse button.
This, however, cannot be achieved in the OOo 2.0 time frame anymore.
