My apologies, I can make it work. I found:
C:\Windows\System\Msiexec.exe /REGSERVER
on http://support.installshield.com/kb/view.asp??pcode=ALL&articleid=Q107094
and this did the trick. Not obvious though - it had blocked me for a month.
