2005 -------
the import of a colon seperated textfile, which i saved as a dbf-file causes a
failure, which stops rather exactly after half of the lines the saving and the
access control list of this file is corrupted. i had this failure with several
builds, but was not sure about OOo as cause. with the software cacsl.exe of
microsoft (cacsl.exe "filename/folder" /T /C) the files can be repaired, BUT the
dbf-files are incomplete.

Before the repair, these corrupted files are impossible to rename, move, copy,
delete - or even to change the permissions. These problems do not always occur,
but i cannot determine what the trigger is.

With several of these corrupted files in a folder even other files become
corrupted, which showed my 'painful ;)' experience.

As far as i know - neither with w2k, nor SuseLinux (9.0-9.3)is there is any sign
of this obscure problem.

Please contact me ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) if you need further information about my
machine or whatever. I took a screenshot of the failuremessage of the dbf-export
(sorry, it'S in german) so i would like to send it to you.

i gave it priority one, because it is a rather tricky issue to reconquer control
over ones own files, when one does not know what the matter could be.

best wishes from a happy user

ulf
