OK NOW I have it. The fontwork tool seems to insert an additional space to the
text, if I doubleclick the fontwork and doubleclick the word that I have
written, I have highlighted everything but one caracter (the space) and
therefore the change of the font is not inherited by the fontwork. I beg your
pardon, could we re-open the issue, this is a usability bug.
I took me some time now to find out that I have to mark _everything_ (including
the space that I have not written) before the fontword accepts its new shape.

added, if it is reproducible or not.
