operating system Red Hat linux 9
linux kernel 2.4.20-8
kde 3.1-10 red hat
openoffice 2.0 RC1

when modifying a printer settings in the spadmin tool the settings are newer
saved and the original settings appear again and again
when trying to add a new printer it seems to be accepted but never appears in
the printer list
tried to make the changes both as the installing normal user and as root. same
result

printers are managed under cups

openoffice was installed in a custom directory as a normal user.

both the
/export/localhome/ethbll/.openoffice.org2/user/psprint
and the
/export/localhome/ethbll/progs/openoffice20rc1/share/psprint
directories exist

if printers can be controlled from cups only then spadmin must provide an error
message or it should just do it's job. Also if this is the case please advise me
how to do this from cups.
