This has been a misunderstanding. I do not believe this is a duplicate of 51938.
I noticed I reported a wrong error message (probably an erroneous copy paste
from another issue). The error message (and the summary of this issue) in fact
should better sound like: "Insert chart: Error Activating Object: General OLE
Error". This happens on my system WHEN CREATING A NEW OPPENOFFICE CHART. It is
not related to the presence of foreign OLE objects.
I can now provide a particular action to crash Openoffice after having received
this error: right-click the embedded chart. Could you please change the summary
of this issue to read "Insert chart: Error Activating Object: General OLE
Error". This issue merits further investigation as it applies to basic
spreadsheet functionality in OOo, i.e., creating charts.
