See the attached test.odt and test.doc.
I created test.odt with date and time fields (not fixed) in the footer:
12-10-05 00:55:16
I then saved it as Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc).
When I open the saved .doc file in OOo, the footnote shows:
12/10/YY HH:55:32
