By cloph's suggestion, it seems as if I've isolated the font that causes
problems. It is called Math3mono, under the filename math3m__.ttf. It came from
the FreeBSD Ports Repository as x11-fonts/mathfonts; my version is
mathfonts-4.1_1.

MD5 (math3m__.ttf) = 4f3edd29127425b5a83b4ea162951529
-r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 48668 Oct 17 11:42 math3m__.ttf

I know almost definitely this is the bad font in my case. However, there could
be other fonts out there that cause OpenOffice to crash in a similar way (as
reported by smglchatguru). I've attached the font in the hopes of someone else
being able to repeat this issue.
