I think the issue 35031 is about the shortcuts that were cut off in the later
development stages [OO.o 2.0].
This issue is about one more addition to the quicstart or tray icon if it will
be implemented in OO.o later [3.0 ??]. I would also voice the concerns raised by
brittonx in issue 35031. Our aim should be to have a better software, and not a
clone to MS Office products. Somewhere we have to stick to the basics and
progress from there.
Further, MS Office has its own method for this action. It adds two items to the
Windows Start Menu i.) New Office Document and ii.) Open Office Document. All
the fucntionalities requested by various users who are asking for the
'quickstart' is basicially centred on what functions these two provide. So we
should either do it this way or that way.
If we follow Microsoft's method it would only add to the clutter in the Start
Menu like some nasty programs do. So we could stick to what we have been doing
and adding something more to that. Hence, quickstart tray icon is the option.
Reopening issue for further consideration.
