------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Oct 29 16:39:47 -0700 2005 ------- This error report should be closed. The problem turned out to be a confifiguration problem. The original incorrect configuration was due to the fact that my .openoffice files were not properly converted when newer versions of OpenOffice were installed. There were entries in my .openoffice directories which pointed to /usr/lib/openoffice1.1. I speculate that there were other "stale" entries. This showed up as a problem after I first installed the "official" 2.0. I did rpm -e on all the FC4 rpm's, but did not remove all .open* directories. When the "official" 2.0 first started it asked if I wanted my old (1.1.3!) personal information converted. I said yes. After using the "official 2.0" a few times it began to complain about I/O error for a file in /usr/lib/openoffice1.1/. Deleting this directory did not help, but deleting my .openoffice* directories and doing a new install did. After all that, I find that the "official 2.0" does not segment fault, and does not complain about files in 1.1 directories. I did not find anywhere in the install instructions the requirement to purge old .openoffice*/ directories. This might be useful information for others. Finally, I find that in another FC4 machine (which does not have as long a history of upgrades -- no 1.1 version files to be found anywhere) the latest OpenOffice from Fedora works correctly on the file which caused seg faults. So, Fedora seems as good as the "official" release in this respect. Now, I am laundering all my machines to remove stale openoffice files. Finally, the "official" release will not load files from an FC4 NFS file server. (General input/output error while accessing ... is the fatal message.) It works correctly loading the same files from another machine of unknown NFS and system version. There have been no other problems reported with the FC4 server, so I suspect that this is an interaction of OpenOffice 2.0 and FC4 NFS. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
