Further observations:        
The file loads incorrectly (as described) if  the L option of       
Options/LoadSave/Microsoft Office/WinWord to... is checked.        
I verified this on the vanilla Debian Sarge and also on Debian Unstable.       
       
If not checked, loading is OK. I even can resize both images by single       
clicling on them and even edit the LEFT ONE by doulke clicking it. However,     
  
if the right one is double clicked, OO hangs.       
      
I have  Sun's jre  1.5.0_05 installed    
       
I observe a similar behavior also on other OLE objects. If L is checked, they   
    
load completely wrong, and if not, they load "better": sometimes completely     
  
correctly (attached file test4.ppt, slide 2), sometimes not (slide 1, black  
color). In both cases double click opens the object correctly, but after 
closing the window they are several time bigger than they should be.
