------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Nov 14 05:32:00 -0800 2005 ------- On my system, the import for Comma-seperated variable widths files (CSV) appears as a semi-colon, not a comma (which is strange, given the name). Changing it to a comma, complains that the thousands seperator is also a comma (this is correct, two thousand is written 2,000). Changing this to the only other alternative (.) complains that the decimal seperator is invalid! 12.3 is correct here though. Comments: 1) The default field seperator should be a comma in COMMA Separated Variable width files! 2) We should allow either, for thousands in quotes (see attached csv file generated by Excel) or at least allow thousands seperator "none" option. 3) See second attached file - which contains embedded CR (hex 0d) characters. These are not interpreted the same way as Calc, Excel, Access in that they start a new record (even though embedded in a quoted string) 4) It would be good to have an option to invent field names (eg C1, C2..) as it took the first line of data as headings! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
