------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Nov 14 08:49:25 -0800 2005 ------- Update... If I get it correctly, OpenOffice does not use fontconfig at all... Mandriva Linux 2006 has a directory called /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1/adobestd35 which contains soft links to all the fonts in /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1/ where the URW fonts (with their URW names) are. Furthermore, the adobestd35 also contains a font.dir and a font.scale files where the fonts are declared with the standard adobe font names. Openoffice 1.1.5 used to read this, to list the 35 fonts with the standard Adobe names and to display them properly, with antialiasing. Now, openoffice 2.0 in the Openoffice build lists the fonts with the standard Adobe names, but displays them without antialiasing. Even if I define "a font replacement table" with entries such as "Palatino -> URW Palladio" the fonts remain without antialiasing. Somehow differently from this, if I use the recently released Mandriva build of Openoffice 2.0, the fonts with the Adobe names are completely absent. In this case, however, if I define a font replacement table, the characters are displayed with antialiasing. Please, fix Openoffice 2.0 so that it works as the former 1.1.5, reading the fonts.dir file and displaying the fonts with the Adobe names with antialiasing. Even better, please fix Openoffice 2.0 so that it uses fontconfig behaving uniformly with other recent QT and GTK applications.
