------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Nov 28 03:09:33 -0800 2005 ------- When editing a long ODT document the display (sometimes) goes into redraw-expose-redraw cycle which can take anything from a few redraws (~5 seconds) to several minutes (>30 redraws) to recover from. The UI does not respond to any commands while flickering - clicks, arrow movement etc. are handled only after the flickering has stopped. The problem seems to be concentrated while navigating pages with tables. Issue 51544 and issue 57984 seem to have a similar problem, but they do not mention anything about tables so it might be a separate issue. A few notes: - During flickering the UI components themselves are not painted. If I switch to another desktop and back, then all the non-document portions are colored gray (by X through the window background) and are not drawn until flickering stops. - During flickering only the document portion is drawn (white background). - The document portion is only partially drawn before a new redraw cycle occurs, e.g. the document goes like "blink - white document window - text draw starts - continues and draws parts of the page - blink - repeat". I took a video of the redraw flickering and put it at http://www.iki.fi/santtu/oo20redrawflicker.avi but I am not sure whether I should have included it as an attachment (its 800k after all). Please note that on this particular case I first and fetched the camera, fumbled with settings, took the video clip, and it still continued for about half a minute after finishing the video clip.
