please also tell us whether you're using GNOME or KDE (or whatever window
manager).

BTW: i don't experience an X error, but instead writer seems to format itself to
death with the following stack:

#0  0xaea735de in SwFrmFmt::MakeGraphic ()
   from /usr/data/vcl47/office/program/libsw680li.so
#1  0xaea7404b in SwFrmFmt::MakeGraphic ()
   from /usr/data/vcl47/office/program/libsw680li.so
#2  0xaea74190 in SwFrmFmt::MakeGraphic ()
   from /usr/data/vcl47/office/program/libsw680li.so
#3  0xaea8c13e in SwFrmFmt::MakeGraphic ()
   from /usr/data/vcl47/office/program/libsw680li.so
#4  0xaea8c6f7 in SwFrmFmt::MakeGraphic ()
   from /usr/data/vcl47/office/program/libsw680li.so
#5  0xaea8ca6a in SwFrmFmt::MakeGraphic ()
   from /usr/data/vcl47/office/program/libsw680li.so
#6  0xaea934a7 in SwTxtNode::GetWidthOfLeadingTabs ()
   from /usr/data/vcl47/office/program/libsw680li.so
#7  0xaea9508c in SwTxtNode::GetWidthOfLeadingTabs ()
   from /usr/data/vcl47/office/program/libsw680li.so
#8  0xaea96079 in SwTxtNode::GetWidthOfLeadingTabs ()
   from /usr/data/vcl47/office/program/libsw680li.so
#9  0xaea96489 in SwTxtNode::GetWidthOfLeadingTabs ()
   from /usr/data/vcl47/office/program/libsw680li.so

Of course the real stack may look differently due to missing debug information,
still the fact that it seems to loop within libsw remains.

Here's what i did: loaded the bugdoc, enabled Edit->Changes->Show, scrolled down
=> hang

This was with an 680m142 (actually the version in CWS vcl47, but that does not
seem to matter)
