I'm attaching a patch which fixes the problem, though I don't think it gets to
the root of the problem.
There is another behavior which this fixes: in RTL mode, if one types "1", then
"(", text, and "enter", the numbering automatically created is not spaced
properly. Note the first set of RTL numbering in the "before" screenshot. There
is no space between the numbering and the text, as there is in LTR. After the
patch is applied, the behavior is correct.
(There is no problem with the spacing when creating the numbering through the
"Bullets and Numbering" dialog. This is how the second set of numbering in the
screenshots were created.)
