On the risk of becoming nasty.....
I went now to a XP with official OO-Build: first you are right, filter *does
not* work.
Second, taking the example files, changing and saving them under XP.
Opening the .odt, Extras-> Options-> databases, remove databases.
With the mailmerge assistant, adding a new .ods as source, adding address fields
etc, layout -> now it hangs since 20 minutes....I think it's worth to call it a
'hang' or a 'crash'.
My feeling is that the additional fields cause the hang. Even if this is not the
desired way, OO should not hang.
