Well, there's nothing wrong with the encoding.
It is UTF-8, as stated in the file. The symbols (paranthesis and greek alpha)
that are written to the file are from the private-use area of OpenSymbol. Thus
to display the parenthesis and the alpha, you need to have opensymbol installed
and your application must try to use these. So the problem is not the encoding,
but that OOo uses its own symbols from the private-use area and doesnt
transliterate them to the standard unicode-characters. For the outer parenthesis
this is not a problem at all, since it is in the fenced-tags, but the alpha and
the brackets from the sin/cos functions are declared as operator..
