First of all, I really dislike RPMS distribution of OOo. With binary installer I
haven't had problems. Now it's version-to-version question.

Actually, I'm unable to install 1.9.77. With 1.9.75 there were problems too, I
was however able to partially use the program.

There is some ancient howto on installing OOo under Debian. Now it's definitely
useless.

1, I get RPMS from ftp
2, I run 'alien -k *.i586.rpm' and DEBs are created
3, I run 'dpkg -i --force-overwrite *.deb' to install the packages.
And here the installation ends up.
4, When I run /opt/...../pkgchk --shared, I first get an complaint that I don't
have Java installed.
Nothing is mentioned about Java in the howto.
OK, I installed java-common, j2se-common, j2re1.4, j2sdk1.4, j2sdk1.4src.

The second complaint is that pkgchk is orphaned and I should use unopkg instead.
If I use it anyway, I get bunch of errors. If I use unopkg, I have no
instructions how to use it. What parameter should I use?

5, 'configimport --spool' has given me an error last time I used it (with m75),
and since I'm not up to accomplish the previous step, I'm not going to try it
with m77 before.

Please, is there any USEFUL howto on installing OOo under Debian?
And has anybody experienced success installing the >m71 version either?
