It's not nonsense, it makes perfect sense.  The user should always be concious
of what version they are using.  The splash screen only says '2.0' which many
people would think to be different to 2.0.1 so most users would just say that
they are using 2.0 if asked, as they would not have looked deeply for the actual
version number.

In 1.9.x builds it clearly gave the version number (in 1.9.x form) in the
installer, now that has gone, all there is is 2.0 in 2.0.1.  Many users just
won't know what version they are running unless it says so more explicitly.

If people think they are using 2.0 when they aren't, this is going to cause a
lot of problems for issue reporting in future as issues will be mismarked as
2.0.0 whereas they should be a later version.
