------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Feb 9 02:50:17 -0800 2005 ------- First, Debian does support RPMs, however converting to DEBs is the correct way to avoid dependency hell, as known from RPM-based distros too. Even the (now) useless howto does respect this. This is not the problem. I'm just confused, that 1, I must find a howto on web. Every polite program does ship with all documentation needed to install, and often to use too. 2, Even using the avaiable howto dosen't lead to success. The OOo is suite large enough to afford one-click installer, and if no, at least one simple script or useful howto. 3, Installation is considered SUCH a task that help from mailing list is needed. I already am subscribed in ooo-cs list; how many more lists should I subscribe in near future to be able to install and use OOo? The minimum TODO: 1, Correct howto SHOULD be shipped with the program. 2, A visible notice placed on the page where the old howto resides, that it is no longer functional and process of installation has changed significantly 3, Correct howto placed somewhere near. Maximal suggestions would be the .deb, but I don't really rely on that. Functional installation process and howtos should not be considered as ENHANCEMENT. Even the Billy has understood this some 15 years ago. I get mails in mailing list from localised version makers, that hurry up, testing is needed for 1.9 to catch as much bugs as possible. I'd expect no silly installation difficulties that bogus potencial testers, including the calming down guy typing this words. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
