1) The driver works with KDE 3.5: ah this is good news. I only have 3.4.2 at
home.
2) Accept 4.0: no, you are right. If we want to be serious, we have to accept
3.5 as the last tested version, and nothing above.
3) Making the maximum version number configurable: I think I have a better
idea. The configurable setting should be:
Refuse too recent KDE versions in the KDE address book driver?
yes/no
If set, it would simply disable your test, letting the user use the too recent
KDE at his/her own risks. It boils down to the same than configurable maximum
numbers, but might sound less "technical" to the end user.
4) configure tests: no, the distribution packager has to be warned that the
end users might run into a problem with the combination of OOo and KDE he/she
is planning to use for his/her distribution. This is especially true for the
too-new-but-compatible-KDE case. It's too bad if the problem is detected only
at run time.
