------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Jan 9 17:53:17 -0800 2006 ------- HI Marc, thanks for the quick reply, I cannot send you the database, sorry it is medical data. So I tried to generate a fake database (attached) and open that with OOo, it was more successful. The fake database still gives the same result with the "open existing database file" option, is this the way it should be? Using the "connect to an existing database" option was successful and I could see that a number of tables had been "imported" including tables that were titled MSysAccessobjects, MSysACEs, MSysObjects, MSysqueries and MSysrelationships. When I tried to open these tables only the table titled MSysAccessobjects would open, the rest gave the error "SQL Status: 3112 Error code: -2147217911 Record(s) cannot be read; no read permission on 'MSysQueries'." I had the idea that the problem might be that my database has a lot of queries in it so I went back and deleted them from the data base and tried the connect protocol again. This time it worked! I tried putting some simple queries back into the database and then reconnected with OOo, the connection worked but the MS Access queries were seen as tables and put in the table section, is this what is meant to happen? So I finally narrowed it down to a one of the queries in my database interfering with the connection process. It was an old query that had reference to a deleted table and so could not find its reference. The import problem was my fault for bad upkeep of the database but the questions I still have are: 1) Is OOo designed to "open" MS Access databases not just connect to them? 2) Can OOo recognise the seperate objects in an MS ACCESS database ie queries, forms etc and sort them into the correct place in OOobase? 3) Can OOoBase creat a NEW database from the ACCESS database it is connected to that is not connected to the ACCESS database? I would like to migrate my data across to OOo or at least work with it in OOo but at the moment it does not seem to be working that way, the best I can get is to have a look at the Access database and I would have to rebuild all my queries and there are a lot :( thanks for your help Dave --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
