That's impossible, as OOo 2.0 was just released in October 2005, not in March. Probably you have a very old pre-2.0 version. Please goto Help-About click into the window background and try Ctrl-S-D-T. The window should begin to scroll and below the OK button the details about the build should appear. If the build number is less than 8990 I recommend upgrading to OOo 2.0.1 and removing any version and private configuration that may be left over just to be on the safe side. Regarding the menu topics: I have a standard out-of-the-box installation of OOo 2.0.1 (English or German). If either the menu entry "Ignore double spaces" or "While Typing" is unchecked then the replacements aren't made. As far as I remember, "Ignore double spaces" was off by default in my installation.
