Hi kiltedknight,
Perhaps this is a stupid question, have you explicitly added the jre location to
OOo? In Tools>Options>OpenOffice.org>Java, press the button Add and indicate the
path to the jre.
In some ocassions (mostly on Windoes, but who knows?) it is needed to indicate
the "bin" subdir within: /usr/java/current/jre/bin.
Please, give it a try.
