Some localize.sdf files seem out-of-date and could be taken care of
  somehow or simply removed.

Obsolete resource files might impede a localization process.

  1. Please have a quick look at the attached file that shows a diagnosis.

       diagnosis-2.0.1.txt

     Criteria:
        - makefile.mk should be found in the same directory.
        - localize.sdf should hold meaningful lines.
        - localize.sdf should refer to at least one living resource file.
        - localize.sdf should refer to existing resource files.

  2. Try it by yourself.

     To see usage:
       perldoc check_localize_sdf.pl

To diagnose an entire source tree:
       cd $SRC_ROOT
       find * -name localize.sdf | xargs perl check_localize_sdf.pl
