I checked it again, this time on a much newer Linux system with 2.6.x kernel:
Linux v60x-so16 2.6.8-24.3-smp #1 SMP Tue Oct 26 14:40:54 UTC 2004 i686 i686
i386 GNU/Linux
and, again it worked without flaw. If you choose to reopen this issue again,
please provide a
df -h /0b/Gentoo/portage/tmp/portage
I'm pretty certain that this is either a "disk full situation" or maybe a bug in
your tmpfs implementation.
Please check if the objects are build with the "-g" switch of gcc. If they do
15GBytes might not be enough.
BTW: A full build of helpcontent2 alone (with all languages on 7 platforms)
occupies a whopping 4.3 GBytes on my disk ...
