------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Jan 18 16:02:15 -0800 2006 ------- In Nov / Dec 2005, I set to work on optimizing the many .png images which makes up the icons in 'default_images'. This was achieved losslessly, using scripts to run each icon through 3 different png compression engines and using a brute force approach to find the best parameters. My original discussion with John Haller (of Portable OOo) can be found here: https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1388130&forum_id=453659 Since then I have 'released' more info at John's new website, here: http://portableapps.com/node/469 As you can see, the size of the png images have been reduced to 57% (lossless!). I would love to see these optimized images getting back into the CVS. I checked out 'default_images' on 27/11/05 21:00 GMT- so any changes since then have not be incorporated (yet). I have QA'd the 'images.zip' as much as possible- reflected in the number of icon based issues I've raised! ;-) If this is something of interest to OOo, then it might make sense to put it through with Kendy's work (maybe CWS IconSwitching3?), so that all the icon changes can be QA'd at the same time?...
