2006 -------
I have replicated the bug with OOo 2.0.1 on Win XP Pro version 2002 SP2.
For OOo 2.0.1 the replication steps were exactly the same as above.

Then I managed to replicate the bug with fewer steps (i.e. saving content
directly to PPT file) and only 2 figures.

Steps for replicating bug with fewer differently-positioned figures:
1.Draw one rectangle;
2.Draw a ellipse/circle to the right of the rectangle and lower that then
bottom of the rectangle;
3.Connect the leftmost point of the ellipse/circle to the middle bottom point
of the rectangle;
4.Save file as PPT;
5.Reload file. The file has same content as saved;
6.Save file as PPT;
7.Reload file. It contains one error: end point of connector to the
ellipse/circle is moved 45 degrees clockwise on the circle compare to its
position before last save;
8.Save file as PPT;
9.Reload file. It contains one error: end point of connector to the
ellipse/circle is moved 45 degrees clockwise on the circle compare to its
position before last save;
10.Save file as PPT;
11.Any reloading has same content as the last saved file at step 10;

For a follow-up test I used 2 connected circles/ellipses. Here are the steps
of the test:

1.Draw one ellipse/circle;
2.Draw another ellipse/circle to the left and lower than the previous
circle/ellipse;
3.Connect the rightmost point of the rightmost circle/ellipse to the bottom
point of the other circle/ellipse;
4.Save file as PPT;
5.Reload file. The file has same content as saved;
6.Save file as PPT;
7.Reload file. It contains two errors:
  a.end point of connector to the rightmost ellipse/circle is moved 135
degrees clockwise on the circle compare to its position before last save;
  b.end point of connector to the leftmost ellipse/circle is moved 90 degrees
clockwise on the circle compare to its position before last save;
8.Save file as PPT;
9.Reload file. It contains two errors:
  a.end point of connector to the rightmost ellipse/circle is moved 90 degrees
clockwise on the circle compare to its position before last save;
  b.end point of connector to the leftmost ellipse/circle is moved 45 degrees
clockwise on the circle compare to its position before last save;
10.Save file as PPT;
11.Any reloading has same content as the last saved file at step 10;

Other tests that I performed involved connecting two rectangles and trying to
reload the saved PPT file the same way I did with the 2 circles/ellipses.
However, after 10 pairs of “save-as-PPT” and “reload” the content of the PPT
file remained unchanged.

It seems that the bug is related to connected ellipses/circles saved in PPT
files and that the end point of the connector moves clockwise on the
ellipses/circles until it hits a limit.
