So - I'm convinced this works only for you because you have StarSymbol
installed, which implements a normal-ish font for the ASCII range.
Poking at the font substitution: getSubstInfo returns:
'dingbats' for 'din'
it's hard to see how that can be avoided. My VCL.xcu specifies:
<value>starsymbol;zapfdingbats;itczapfdingbats;monotypesorts;dingbats;opensymbol;starsymbol;opensymbol;starbats;wingdings;zapfdingbats;itczapfdingbats;monotypesorts;dingbats;lucidadingbats;lucidasansdingbats;webdings;symbol;standardsymbols;standardsymbolsl;andalesansui;arialunicodems;lucidaunicode</value>
I've removed my monotypesorts font - now I get it using 'dingbats' instead - and
the rendering still sucks unbelievably ;-) I can remove dingbats & it'll
fallback to opensymbol - which will be very similar but ...
IMHO we need a 'din' VCL.xcu entry.
