what you can try to remedy this problem:
-try the repair option of the OOo2 setup Program
-install OOo2 in a different directory than OOo1
-remove the OpenOffice.org2 folder from C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>\Application Data prior to installation (possibly different
loction for Win98, such as C:\Windows\Application Data; Anwendungsdaten in
german)
if you find registry entries that are not removed when uninstalling, reopen
issue 6495
