2006 -------
I downloaded a MS Word document (an application form) and tried to open it by
double clicking it. The OOo splash screen appeared and Java 1.5 launched as
usual.

Then the screen became blank (apart from the OOo menu bar and toolbars) and the
application froze, after a short while the words '(Not Responding)' appeared on
the title bar and I had to open Task Manager to end OOo, followed by error
reporting.

I tried several times and everytime I encountered the same problem. I also tried
downloading the same Word file again and opening it using MS Office (which
opened without any problems) and saved it in Word 97, Word XP formats. But all
these files just won't open in OOo.
