Just using CUPS/PPD -files directly doesn't solve problems the people have (missing printers, unreliable printing). Also, there are settings that are per document, not something you setup in general printer setup: (printing tray, BW/Grayscale/color, dpi, etc.) Until a more native solution is available, perhaps doing the "export to PDF, launch preview" -route would be reasonable? Which is why I 99% of the time export to PDF first. How important is this issue? Would it be easier to leave it till Aqua?
