looks like your OO.o magically uses a font that only contains (CJK) full-width
characters. Probably because your system lacks some scalable, sans serif fonts
(or the fonts.cache files are missing; but that's just guessing)
Try to install some sans serif fonts from the web
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Font-FAQ#Where_can_I_find_fonts_for_OpenOffice.org_2)
