After a crash the office recovers and normally there is offered to send an error report which gives us the option to see where the problem is. With "video software" I ment something like quicktime. Good. I have seen the same problems when using insert/video and sound like you (format not supported, ASCII dialog when draggin in). This is a point to start. Please try to send and error report.
