I can confirm this OOo dev-m158 WinXP SP2.
Considerations:
Hmmm.. looking for this matter in OOo help I found this:

The part "to the entire word that contains the cursor" is not working as
expected.
I agree with this behavior, so maybe this is only a matter of documentation ?
