The "Find all" function seems to be ideal for a small document, because the
highlight will not be effective if the matches are far from each other in a long
document. (In such cases, the "Find next" would be useful.)

But both these modes fall short of expectation if the user wants to rapidly
navigate through the matches.

In other words, if he wants to have random access to all the matching strings,
especially in large documents, the existing mechanisms are not suitable.

Suggestion: Show search results as nodes of the Navigator tree.

Just like the "Headings" node in Navigator, add another node called "search
results". Show the results of each search as a separate node under this
supernode.

>> Results should be stored only for the current session.
>> When the user closes the file, give him an option to save the results (Writer
should issue the warning: "The file is changed. Save it?"). If the results are
not saved, the Navigator will not show the nodes when the file is opened the
next time.
>> Allow the user to select a node and delete it.

>> Provide a program option to add search results as Navigator nodes. If the
user unchecks this, then searches wil have no effect on the Navigator.
>> Provide the same option in the "Advanced" options of the "Find" dialog.
