------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Mar 16 03:47:02 -0800 2006 ------- Hi, I don't know if this can be treated as a duplicate of Issue 3266. But even if it is, I nonetheless request you to consider it again. The first thing that anyone tries when trying to make a presentation in OO, is to open an existing slide design template and start modifying/hackign away. Unfortunately, the lack of any initial design template has distracted many people from even starting to use impress. I am very serious about this. Many of my colleagues wanted to make a presentation in OO and though they found the layout panel easily, they could not find suitable ready made designs. So they gave up asap and started MS Powerpoint. A lot of good design templates from openoffice/koffice etc. are available under The Creative Commons Lic. on the Web. I myself have downloaded all the templates from ooextras.sf.net so I do not feel the lack. The templates on OOextras are under LGPL. However, the average user is not in the least bit interested, when he is busy, to surf the net and download free templates. Also, for most casual presentation (not corporate ones) one always uses one of the prepackaged templates. Unfortunately the lack of good and appealing free templates is a severe drwaback of OO impress. Templates are not large (most are less than 100kB) and quite readily available. Some of the really good ones include (this is straight from OOextras) 1. Pink Texture: From David Abbott 2. Sparkle: From David Abbott 3. circulos clasicos: From Ana Flordelis Llorens 4. Sidepanel(Red/Green/Blue): from catch. 5. Cubes Template: From Kris Nackaerts I request you to bundle along with the regular openoffice, they do not involve any programming effort, whatsoever. If there are in any maintainence issues as far as the templates are concerned, I may not know programming and I am not an artist either, but I have common sense, and can grasp xml. I will undertake the effort necessary to find, convert and maintain the templates for OO impress. I know there are issues involved with adding templates and for asking permissions, but I can do this for each of the templates from the respective authors. I only want to ask you your permission to proceed to do the same. I implore you to please add these templates. They will also simplify my job of trying to promote OO in my native country India.
